Give more power to the Yetzer Tov (GOOD INCLINATION)

If you undertake to give more and more power to the Yetzer Tov (good inclination), after a while the yetzer tovbecomes so strong that the yetzer hora (evil inclination) cannot be heard anymore. Since people don’t labor to listen to the yetzer tov, it’s only inside of them. The yetzer hora is outside, the street is yetzer hora, the signs, in the subway’s the yetzer hora, newspapers are all yetzer hora, the whole world today is yetzer hora, it always was the yetzer hora and therefore if a person doesn’t listen to the voice inside, certainly the Yetzer Hora is stronger. - (E - 137 - Listen to the voice of the Yetzer Tov)

The more you practice bitachon, the more you will be surprised. Hashem will show you yesh m'ayin (something from nothing). Sometimes fountains of money will open up. You'll be amazed where the money comes from. If it will not be in the form of money, it will be in the form of other satisfactions.

Hashem has plenty of ways to satisfy. He will not withhold good.

How Important Is Jewish Unity?

Derech Hashem says that if all the Jewish people would be united as one nation, with one opinion, they would bring down the Shechinah just like at the giving of the Torah. The Torah says, "He camped" at Har Sinai, and the Gemara says "he" refers to the Jewish people. They became like one person, and because there were six hundred thousand people all in one place, the largest amount of Shechinah possible came down at that time. Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaacov didn't merit that. As noble as they were, they were not a multitude. When Jews come together, united for Hashem, the Shechinah comes down on them. That took place at Har Sinai and remained with us forever; we became Yisrael from that point on. While the nations of the world fell at that time, the Jewish people became greater. -- The Truth of the Torah.

Q: Why were such great personalities, like Onkelus, born gentiles, wouldn't they have been greater if they had been born Jews?

A: You could ask why wasn't Avraham Avinu born a Jew? Avraham was born a ben Noach, not a Jew. The answer is it was his test and he passed the test and that's what made Avraham great.

It was the ten tests that Avraham passed that made him great. The great people who came to us from the outside, who came under the wings of the Shechina (Divine Presence), are especially beloved because of that.

In the Torah there's a special mitzvah to love a ger (convert), as the Rambam says “ahavas hager, sh’ba v’nichnas tachas kanfei hashechinah — he came and entered under the wings of the Shechinah.”What's the Rambam telling us? What a ger is? We know what a ger is! The Rambam is telling us why it's a special mitzvah to love a ger: He came of his own, and that's what made Onkelus so great.

Onkelus had so many obstacles, he was born in a royal house. He was a nephew of the Domitian, Domitian the wicked man who was even a rasha in the eyes of his fellow Romans; surely he was an enemy of the Jews. And nevertheless Onkelus persisted in his ways. For him it was a benefit that he was given the opportunity of breaking through barriers and coming under the kanfei hashchinah.

Can you be nice half the time?
