Can you be nice half the time?

If a person is kind and friendly to other people, he's also the same to Hashem. He’s patient or short tempered with people, he's the same with Hashem.

You cannot departmentalize your mind. That’s why it’s of the utmost importance to have the right thoughts in your mind, because these thoughts are going to affect everything that you do — in mitzvos or in gashmiyus (material matters). — Five Minutes a Day 1 (#E-159)

By Rabbi Avigdor Miller.

“We are obligated to do all this, continually at all times, in every place, every hour, every minute, and under all circumstances as long as our minds and souls are still within us.” (Introduction to Chovos Halevavos)

Chovos Halevavos has become the foundation for Jews in their service of Hashem. Great Torah luminaries, e.g. Rabbi Yosef Karo, Rabbi Yitzchak Luria, the Vilna Gaon and Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk immersed themselves in the sefer and encouraged others to do likewise. Simchas Hachaim Publishing is publishing Chovos Halevavos with Rabbi Avigdor Miller’s insights.
