What does it mean to be loyal to Hashem?

SimchaMinute
A quotation-a-day by Rabbi Avigdor Miller

"And you found his heart Loyal before You." (Pesukei Dzimra)

The word "loyal" (ne'eman) is used, to denote that the chief excellence of Abraham (and of all the Fathers) was not merely in the remarkable deeds which he performed ... [but in] the ordinary deeds that everyone performs — but which Abraham (and Isaac and Jacob) performed with perfect loyalty to Hashem and solely for His sake ... All was done only for the purpose of doing the will of Hashem. — Praise, My Soul

Chovos Halevavos hás become the foundation for Jews in their service of Hashem. Great Torah luminaries, e.g. Rabbi Yosef Karo, Rabbi Yitzchak Luria, the Vilna Gaon and Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk immersed themselves in the sefer and encouraged others to do likewise. Simchas Hachaim Publishing is publishing Chovos Halevavos with Rabbi Avigdor Miller’s insights.
